Personal Support Worker Program - Good Shepherd CS, Port Perry
Free Tuition With No Fees and Paid Placement Available for the 2022-23 School Year
If you are currently working in a support role in Long Term Care, Home or Community Care, can speak with your teacher about advanced standing.
Orientation is mandatory and you must attend one of the orientation sessions and write the literacy exam. See details below.
Session Dates for 2022-23
There are two intake options for the 2022-23 year:
Session 1: September 8, 2022 - March 9, 2023
Session 2: January 8, 2023 - June 28, 2023
Program completion dependent upon placement hours.
Program Details
- Flexible programming allows students to continue to work while completing school
- A combination of online and in-school training at Good Sheperd CS in Port Perry
- Earn 6 high school credits while earning your PSW accreditation
- Paid placement dependent upon meeting program expectations
Eligibility
- 18 years of age or older
- Minimum score of 80% on the Literacy Test provided by the school
- Successful personal interview
- Proof of Canadian Citizenship/Permanent Residency
- To qualify for advanced standing, you must be currently working as a Resident Aide or in Long Term Care. Students with no experience can participate in the program
Orientation Sessions
Students must complete/attend a Literacy Test/Orientation session to begin the application process:
Orientation/Literacy Test - Virtual on the following dates: October 5, November 2, December 7, 2022; April 5, May 3, June 7, 2023 12:30 - 2:30 pm
The literacy test will be virtual and link will be emailed on the day of orientation at 12:30 pm. You will have 2 hours to complete and submit the literacy test.
Registration for the October 5 literacy test will be available until October 4 at 12:00 pm:
