Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition is a formal evaluation and credit granting process that allows mature students to obtain credits for their Ontario Secondary School Diploma for knowledge and skills learned outside school.

You can earn credits for learning and skills you have acquired at school, at home, at work, in training programs and volunteer work.  This applies to schooling, work and experiences you have from outside Canada.

Students in the English for the Workplace Program can speak to a guidance counsellor to discuss eligibility for PLAR.  Visit our PLAR page for more information by clicking here.
